Non-venereal, infectious, tropical disease usually affecting persons under the age of 15. Spread by direct contact. Characteristics - painless papule that grows into a papilloma. The papule heals, leaving a scar. Late manifestations: deforming lesions of bones, joints, and skin. Usual course - chronic; progressive. Endemic areas - tropical regions.
